Play Therapy can be for all ages and it does help even adults. Child Centered Play Therapy is for children ages 4-12. This is where children lead the play and use play as the language in which they express their worries, needs and even success.Facilitating flexibility, problem solving, self efficacy, autonomy, and creativity are just a few of the things we work on while we play.
Parenting is an important part of play therapy and is an important part of the journey. Throughout the play therapy experience we will engage in parent consultations Parent sessions are for parents only and are for communicating concerns, psycho-education and learning skills to encourage success for all. The Child Parent Relationship is the best tool we can work with.
In the focus of Interpersonal Neurobiology and polyvagal theory we know that regulating our central nervous system is a large part of being able to deal with life and recover from circumstances, small and large. A nervous system can get stuck in a fight or flight or other stressed state and effect our behaviors thoughts and ability to cope. The Safe and Sound Protocol utilizes Sound through filtered music to stimulate our inner ear and Vegas nerve to remember what it feels like to feel safe and socially connected. It is kind of like rebooting the nervous system for safety and connection. Appropriate for children and adults age 4 and up.
Aviation professionals navigate a career unlike any other-one that demands precision, resilience, and unwavering commitment. The weight of responsibility, irregular schedules, and high-performance expectations can take a toll on mental well-being, often in ways that only those within the aviation community truly understand. With over 30 years of personal experience in an aviation family, I offer counseling services tailored to pilots, air traffic controllers, maintenance crews, and all those who keep the skies safe. My approach is rooted in support, hope, and the belief that mental health is as vital as technical expertise in ensuring a fulfilling career and personal life. Beyond the individual, aviation deeply impacts families. The unique rhythms of life-long stretches apart, unpredictable hours, and the ever-present responsibility of the profession-create both challenges and opportunities for growth. I provide counseling not only for aviation professionals but also for their loved ones, offering a space to navigate the dynamics of connection, resilience, and shared understanding. Whether addressing stress, relationship challenges, or career transitions, my goal is to help individuals and families find balance, strength, and clarity in the face of aviation's unique demands. No one has to navigate these challenges alone. Just as every flight relies on teamwork and preparation, mental well-being flourishes with the right support. Through specialized counseling, I help aviation professionals and their families cultivate the resilience needed to thrive-not just in their careers, but in every aspect of life.
