About Me:
Finding the right therapist can feel like a daunting task. I want to ease that by telling you about myself and my styles of therapy.
Growing up, I often found myself as the one others came to for clarity, support, and advice. This turned into a passion of assisting people with finding understanding and peace. I began studying psychology in high school and continued my education obtaining a BA in Psychology from Flagler College in St. Augustine and an MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of North FL in Jacksonville. Both of these programs had small intimate classes which allowed me to sharpen my skills, ideology, and gave me the tools to become a healing psychotherapist.
My Style:
We all have different beliefs and experiences that make each of us unique individuals and therapy is tailored to be as unique as each person who steps through my door. As a psychotherapist, I assist my clients in identifying patterns that have formed throughout their lives. These patterns can negatively impact our lives when they no longer serve us or become maladaptive. Through therapy we work together to adjust coping skills and form new health patterns, regain power through autonomy, and create the life you desire. As a psychotherapist I will be active with you through your journey. I am not the kind of psychotherapist who simply listens, I using honesty and upfront communication. This means discussing a wide range of issues which we often avoid due to discomfort. Together we face the discomfort and face uncomfortable truths, leading to deep self-exploration. My clients have shared they appreciate my style as it leads to faster healing and the opportunity for real lifestyle adjustments. If you are ready for these kinds of changes, I am ready for you.
Focus:
Through education and my own experiences, I have several areas of special focus used to assist my clients. These areas of focus include eating disorders, sex and sexuality/identify, and men's issues.
